Understanding Spinal Subluxation

In medicine, a subluxation is simply defined as an incomplete or partial dislocation of a joint within the human body. It is major displacement of the joint and is visible on imaging scans such as X-rays. Subluxation is often the result of acute injury or repetitive motions, but age, disease, and lifestyle choices can all impact the joints and eventually cause subluxation to occur. Joint dislocations can happen in any joint from the hands and feet to the knees and go to the spine and shoulders. In many cases, treatment is very involved and will include resetting or realigning the joint, pain relief and pain management practices, and rehabilitation therapy. In cases that don’t respond to these or other treatments, surgery may be needed. If you are in Mount Pleasant or North Charleston, SC area, visit Spine Pain Center to find relief and get more information on this condition.
