Cold Laser Therapy FAQs

If you are suffering from neck pain, back pain, or limited mobility, our team at Spine Pain Center offers several chiropractic care methods to help, including cold laser therapy. Learn more about this treatment and how it can help you with answers to some of the most common questions.

.

What is cold laser therapy, and how does it work?

Cold laser therapy is a method in which low levels of laser light are used to penetrate the soft tissues of a damaged area. This kick-starts the body’s regeneration process, drawing blood and healing nutrients to the site.

What are the benefits of this treatment method?

It is used for various reasons, including back pain relief, neck pain relief, improved mobility, improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and more. It is even more effective when combined with other chiropractic care methods.

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone’s treatment plan is personalized to their needs. Some only need five or six treatments, while others might need 12 or more. And some conditions require ongoing maintenance, which includes one or two treatments each month after the original treatment plan is complete. We will discuss the best recommendations for your needs after assessing your condition and your progress.

Is it safe?

Yes. Cold laser therapy promotes the body’s natural healing processes, which creates no side effects.

Will it hurt?

You should not experience any pain with cold laser treatment. In fact, many people feel a warm, soothing sensation and report that it’s very relaxing. However, if you ever notice discomfort or pain with any treatment method, it’s essential that you let your chiropractor know right away. Treatments are intended to provide pain relief – not cause pain.

How long will a treatment session take?

There is no set time, as it depends specifically on the condition, the size and depth of the area being treated, and similar factors. However, most treatment sessions last between five and fifteen minutes.

Does cold laser therapy require downtime?

Not at all. You can go back to work or your other regular activities. And thanks to improved mobility, you can likely do those activities better than ever before. It is a good idea, though, to be easy on yourself for a few days, though. This gives the treatment time to work and your body time to heal before putting it through too much again.
